A forest management plan is a site specific plan developed for a client, which addresses one or more resource concerns on land where forestry-related conservation activities or practices will be planned and applied. These criteria were developed to implement Section 1240 (A) of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008, which allows for the development of forest management plans as one of the purposes of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

Managing your Woodlands - Joint Management Plan Template

Managing Your Woods: A Template for Your Plans for the Future was developed by the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) a program of the American Forest Foundation, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the US Forest Service, with input from State Foresters and other partners.

The goal of this joint management plan template is to allow landowners to use one management plan to participate in the American Tree Farm System, the Forest
Stewardship Program and the NRCS incentive programs. This national template has been developed in accordance with all the national program requirements for the three
programs listed above. The template is not a program requirement for any of the three programs; rather it is a tool for landowners and foresters.
