Select the Import Layer option that allows to import a new layer from a .shp file (shapefile). The following window will pop up:
1. Click on Browse. A window will pop up where you will be able to search for the shapefile that you want to import. Once you find the file, select it and click on Open.
2. Enter the name you want to assign to the new layer.
3. Select the layer group that you want to use for the new layer.
4. Select the structure of the layer. GeoAgro GIS will search for the most convenient structure.
Depending on the type of layer you want to import, GeoAgro GIS assigns the most convenient structure. In the lower-left side of the window, the attributes of the structure predefined by the system are listed.
On the right side, you can see the attributes of the shapefile structure which haven't been matched.
The attributes whose names and data type are the same, will be assigned automatically.
In case the attributes names are not the same, you will need to do the matching manually. Click on the attribute that belongs to the layer to be imported (the table on the right) and then click on the attribute that belongs to the structure predefined by GeoAgro GIS (the table on the left) in order to do the matching.
If you are importing a structure that does not exist in GeoAgro GIS or is totally different to the existing one, you may use the option Import Structure.
Once the structure matching is done, click on Accept and the new layer will be added to the Reference Panel.
|Warning:||Please make sure that you check the Permission options to 'Edit' and 'Delete', when you import the data structure, to make sure that you can add/modify features on the imported layer|
When a shape is selected the program loads the attached .prj file, if exists, and loads the layer to the systems projecting the file.
If there is no .pfj file, the application assumes that the layer uses a projected system WGS84 and tries to load the layer with that system.
In both cases if the layer is not located within the logic coordinates, the application will show a window where the user should select the correct coordinated system.
The interface for the projection selection allows to browse a specific system or load one from a .prj file.
